Hi guys its Jamzy and today I want to talk about a ‘what-if’ question really and that is save files in Pokémon. Shout out to Kite who helped me out with some thoughts I had when creating this blog. In addition after doing a bit of research on forums where users have briefly talked about this topic, I got interested and wonder how save files could work in Pokémon. After completing various Pokémon Titles I’ve sometimes felt that maybe with an extra save file or two I’d be able to a few things to keep me interested in playing. Alright enough of the introduction then let’s get into this…

Why have multiple?
Mac os x sierra dmg. Multiple save files can be a great addition to games, they allow players to have various backups or different save files for a particular game. This can also range as I’ve played games where you can only have 3 save files whilst others allow much more 10+ even. Anyways the reason why I initially thought it could be a cool addition to Pokémon was for ‘Replay Value’. Don’t get me wrong in the latest addition of Pokémon (ORAS) there are tons of things to do once you’ve beaten the main and post-game storylines, however have you ever thought about restarting your game for whatever reason that is? I think few of us have, but haven’t followed through as we may not want to overwrite the save file we’ve spent so much time playing on. You could say that this isn’t an issue if you bought both Versions of that Generation but at the same time not everyone buys both versions. Is airo a great mac cleaner. The main reasons why I would want multiple save files in Pokémon, hmm let’s say 3 slots maximum is because it would allow players to do different things in their games for example self-made challenges. By this I mean Nuzlockes, Replay Story (I’ve done this countless of times with Emerald when I was kid, due to corrupting my original save file haha), Speed Runs, etc. All of these things would be great without the issue of having to wipe out the save you already have.
Pro or Con?
On the other hand all this sounds like a good idea on paper, though many will argue that this is not and I take this into consideration. For example what I’ve seen being repeated a couple of times by users on forums is that one reason for having a single save file only is for marketing purposes, with only one save file, if you really want to restart your game, you are forced to overwrite that game cartridge or to avoid this, buy another cartridge (i.e. Another copy of Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby). Really I have nothing wrong with this, if we want a new Pokémon game, we got to pay up haha. Furthermore other reasons could be value itself, when we first start any Pokémon game we are given that ultimate choice to pick a starter Pokémon who will inevitably become a key member in any players team. Having multiple save files may ruin this feeling of making this vital decision or in other terms make picking a starter absolutely void if you could choose all 3 starters, one in each save. Nevertheless I also believe this to be a fair statement.
Possible Problems?
One of the most important points I believe revolves around user interaction. A prime aspect of Pokémon is that as players we should interact with other players to battle, collect and trade Pokémon. I’m not saying that multiple saves remove this, but there are numerous factors that can cause problems. For instance interaction between saves, could be very problematic. Without a way to remove connection between save files, players could easily exploit the game through GTS for example, you deposit a Pokémon on one save and collect it on the other. As someone who is fond of ‘Genning’ I don’t really oppose this but I can see that it shouldn’t be possible to do this and therefore Game Freak would have to restrict interaction between save files, I’m not sure how this could be done to be honest but it could be possible. I could elaborate on this specific point more but I think I’ve made a point.
What about Storage?
I’ve heard some people say that the 3DS system wouldn’t be able to handle more than one save file, it can't run three save files at a time, etc. This aspect I disagree with. Firstly the way which I presume the 3DS system and other computer systems work is that only the Save file/data which will played on, is what the system deals with. For example only 1 save file will be loaded or saved at a time, the system will never be carrying out save/load instructions to three save files at once, that’s not how it works (at least not yet :joy: ). Secondly since the Game Boy advance days Pokémon Save files are considerably small compared to other games, with only a couple few Kilobytes in size to be exact. With the advance to the newer systems, 3D modelling and other factors I’m pretty sure the size of Pokémon save files have increased vastly, but I believe not to the point where 3 save files couldn’t be kept on one cartridge. The actually save file itself is kept on the game cartridge (unless you purchase a digital copy) but other types of data such as replays and updates are stored on the SD Card of a 3DS (this only needs to happen once for changes to take place on each save file). To me this is all speculation I don’t know what the maximum save file storage space ORAS takes up on a cartridge, but after playing other games like Mario 3D land which makes use of three save files its far from impossible that Pokémon Games couldn’t support multiple save files.
Conclusion
So after a short overview of what multiple save files could be like in Pokémon games I’m left with mixed feelings. Sure they could add replay value for some users, although for others this could ruin their Pokémon experience in aspects such as decision making. There's also the factor of a few potential flaws to consider. Mountain lion 10.8.4 dmg download. Overall I think multiple saves could work in Pokémon Games, although I think there’s a few thing to discuss first. Thanks for reading be sure to comment below and if there’s anything I’ve left out or even you have something to say feel free to share.
